I have an 06 6 cyl Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. I am having a hard time getting good info on what size travel trailer I should get. I want to get the largest one the truck can handle without overburdening. Even though it came with the hitch and hookups rated to 6400 lbs and 650 lb tongue weight, I would think that 5000 lbs or maybe 5500 lbs would be pushing it about as far as I want to go. Some folks say don't go over 4000 lbs. Any thoughts or comments?

In mountain terrain, long haul and/or busy freeway traffic I'd go with the lightest trailer I could get by with.

danny here sounds like you have ener thing right now to that 400 pouns over no stay with in the limits of your whole truck i know that the truck has more than enough power your whole tow package is brake cooling system and motor. the more weight u choose to tow more than likely brakes to wear more. Tow with the overdrive off

Also consider the trailer frontal area, that area exposed to the wind while towing. My 6-speed manual Fronty has no trouble with my utility flatbed at 5000 pounds, but requires shifting into 5th on windy level-ground stretches because of the big sail area of my 3000 pound travel trailer. Also, if you operate a altitude (7000 feet where I live) you've given away some power and torque (figure 3% loss for every 1000 feet increase from sea level power).
