I have driven my Frontier 193,000 miles. With no transmission problems. It is again time to service the transmission. So, I go to the parts store, they tell me Dexron III, is no longer produced. And its replacement is a universal fluid. I said no, buddy you got to be kiddin' me. So, I go to the next parts store, of a different chain, and they say the same thing. So, I bought the multi purposr fluid. It is called Multipurpose DexMerc.

Are they not producing Dexron III anymore?

Will DexMerc harm my transmission?

I am waiting for a reply, before putting this in a perfectly good transmission.
