I honestly say let them die. The best thing that happened so far was the Gov't forced GM's president to step down. Remember this is the man that said "Our line of Large SUV and Trucks will save us." Then took for 2 years only ran a diesel that everyone would want but didn't put into their private sector trucks because "no one will pay an extra $1500 on top of the $6000 for a diesel option" The guy had no sense what so ever.
Their current predicament is the result of greed. The market flooding of vehicles and UAW wanting more money.
GM needed to trim the fat a long time ago, and even now with trimming, they're still trimming in the wrong way. "We'll keep Chevy, GMC, and Cadi." WTF IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHEVY, GMC, and PONTIAC. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!
You can save money by dropping the badge and small exterior changes and offereing another package option or 2 to a chevy. Oh and look, you only have to pay for one style of badge. Hell, the only difference between my wife's 08 cobalt and a Pontiac G5 is the grill.
Heaven forbide they offer a Chevy 2500 HD with a Denali package, or quadrasteer. Oh god no.
The best part, let's just drop a line that created it's own little world in the market and people loved it... but then f**k it up with integrating it with the rest of our company, like we said we wouldn't. I think if Penske Motors goes right back to the core of what Saturn was about, they will take the market back by storm.
Now that I'm done picking on GM, time for Chrysler. Besides the obvious union problem, they had one fault. QUIT TRYING PUT TOP LUXURY INTO ALL YOUR LINES!!!!! How do you think Toyota, Nissan, and Honda do it so well? Simple, a regular line, and a luxury line. This one keeps it simple, affordable, and somewhat luxury, the other decks it out for those who can afford it.
It's so simple, Dodge makes the trucks, entry lvl cars and vans. Simple market they had cornered. Jeep makes the awesome entry and semi lvl SUVs. Chrysler carries their luxury editions. Crossfire, etc. Jeep did not need the f**king commander at all. It's so simple, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Liberty, and Patriot. Offroad, semi luxury, entry lvl, and crossover.
Ford... omg ford. GET REALISTIC. I'm not going to pay $57,000 for a F150. I can get a totally loaded Titan or Tundra for $48,000 if I wanted it. They sure can offer $10,000 rebates, because that's how much they inflated their prices. Granted though, their body styling has improved a lot. Now if they would quit their half model year changes for no reason but to piss off mechanics. Oh, and you don't need 3 versions of a 4.6L V8. You got a 2 valve, that's a Mustang GT, 3 Valve, that's F150, a 4 valve, you got a cobra. COME ON!!!!! drop that poor of a excuse 2 valve and drop in that 3 valve. Look, 2 heads needing purchased instead of 3 different.
ALL 3, tell the UAW to suck it up and take a realistic paycheck. They don't like it, tell them to sell their $300,000+ house and buy something a little less. I'm seem to be just fine with a $110,000 house in a $225,000 avg housing market.
