I have a 2001 Frontier and i've had a Rockford Fosgate system setup in it since I purchased it in 2005.  Ive always had issues with alternator whine mainly through the front passenger door.  Sometimes its really loud, sometimes i dont hear any whine and sometimes is so bad the noise overtakes the signal from the headunit and all music cuts out from that speaker.  Ive regrounded both of my amps and headunit and still cannot figure out how to rid myself of the whine.  Ive considered getting a new headunit because i've heard that Fosgate headunits are not the greatest.  I have component speakers in all 4 doors with the crossovers inside the door itself.  ive checked to make sure no cables are getting crossed with others and have rerun my rca cables to different places with no change.  I am using Fosgates twisted shielded cables too. I've even placed a noise filter on the power line to the headunit itself and that changed nothing.  I am out of ideas.  Can anyone help?

I recently read that in some cars the antenna is not
grounded very well which can cause whine. Does anyone have
any experience with this problem as well??

Yup but that was 40 years ago. We also had to add a noise surpressing capasitor to the altenators/generators. I also used two ground straps from the frame to the pavement. My little '66 Rambler talked around the world.

I would think modern cars would not have the problem.

13.5 foot beer can load for 75 meters And tri band in the rear for 11, 15, and 20 meters.

Have a good one..  Don S..

Well the issue with grounding the antenna is just a guess based on what i've read from this forum and some others... but i've had this issue for years and other than replacing the head unit altogether i was trying to think of anything else that i could do to isolate the ground loop.  My radio hasnt worked in years either... ill turn on the truck and after about 5-8 seconds of radio reception it cuts out and nothing... so i'm starting to think it could be the antenna but have not looked into it any further.

There also could be a problem like a cold solder joint on one of the circuit boards that loses contact as the radio heat up.

Have a good one.. Don S..

I just picked up a new Pioneer AVH-3300BT and so far I dont seem
to have any issues for alternator whine as of yet... Hopefully it was
just the headunit... Time will tell.
