I've got a 2001 extended cab Desert Runner.  It's an XE model which doesn't seem to have rear speakers as part of the stock radio setup.  Is this just the case for the XE model trucks, or are all extended cab Frontiers not equipped with rear speakers?  I can't seem to find any obvious place where they would be mounted behind the seats.

I was laso wondering if anybody had pictures of their amp/sub setups for extended cab pickups.  Looking for ideas and inspiration.  I was thinking of having a custom amp rack/sub box behind the seats in the cab area.  It would incorporate the amps, subs and a rear speakers in one box.   I wouldn't make anybody sit in the jump seats on my truck unless they were really small or I was mad at them for some reason.  Losing the jump seats isn't really a big issue for me.  Thanks.

i don't know...one idea is to check www.nissanhelp.com i believe that site would be able to help you find out how many speakers are in the different year models of the XE, but i know someone with an XE that is on 02 and it also only has front speakers...two tweeters and two down in the door. i think you'd have to either do some modding on your own or go with self built or pre-fab boxes for speakers behind/under your seats.. .just my two cents tho..

Thanks for the link to the NissanHelp site.  It's got a lot of useful info on there.  I've got an XE so even when equipped with the "Deluxe" package  it would seem that XE's only get the two tweets and front door speakers.

However if the truck is an SE witht he "Deluxe" package, it comes with a 5 speaker setup, which would imply that there is a location for the rear speakers to be mounted in the cab of the truck.  Unless by "5 speaker system" they mean the two tweeters, two door speakers and the sub.
  Hmmm.

i have an 03 ext cab, and will be using the jack storage area to fiberglass a nice 8" sub (maybe 2) and then replace the cover so you can't see anything.  hide the amps under the seats, you got plenty of room, and if someone does break into the truck they'll have a hell of a time pulling them out from under there (As long as you mount them properly).  but i'm just weird like that i guess... i prefer to have a stealth install.  i want to hear my equipment, not necessarily see it.

but you have TONS of room back there, especially if you give up the jump seat.  just draw a few different layouts, decide what you like the best and where, and go build it :)

Heh, looks good.  You're right though, a little too overkill for me.  However it does give me an idea.  Thanks.

No Problem... though keep an eye out for it in a Chevy Extreme Show truck in your area.

I traded my truck in back in Oct, and a co-worker bought the setup off me to put into his show truck.  Right now it's down in TX, his dad is taking it around for him.
