Hey everyone!

Currently I am looking into buying a 2007 4x4 King Cab Frontier. I currently have and 02 4x2 extended cab froniter with a tonnuel cover that was given to me by my parents. Some questions before I buy. How does everyone like the new redesigned frontiers compared to the old models? Does anyone know if Nissan sells a cap for the new frontiers? Tired of the button thing and I want to be able to put a kayak rack ontop. How does the 4x4 compare to the 4x2? Any help with these or anything else I should know would be very helpful.

the old ones don't even compare to the new ones!  They're GREAT!  I just bought an 06 4x2, if you dont absolutely need 4x4 I wouldn't get it, the 4x2's sit the same and the suspension setup looks similar, there is more room and the truck is WAY more powerful (265bhp)...get it!!

go test drive one.

i had an 01 2wd, now i have an 06 4x4.

the v6 is definitely nice, and its pretty much the only race bred japanese v6 on the market, which is cool.  i still get about 20mpg too.  (01 truck was a KA, probably got about 25mpg).

4x4 is great, but i do use it fairly regularly.  i agree that if you don't need it, don't get it.  i'd also say you don't need the nismo... my se does just fine offroad and gives a better on road ride.  i'd only get the nismo if i was going to take it offroad all the time.

the only problem i would say is that the trucks turning radius is real wide.  its an issue at times.

I'm on my 3rd Nissan King Cab, all 2x2s.  First was an '87 4 cyl/4 spd auto, that I had for 11 years and put on 250K miles before getting rid of it.  It never had any major work done on it (just belts, wires, expendables, etc.).  Then, I got a 2000 Frontier, same drive train.  It was somewhat better than the '87, although geared lower and got less mileage.  I still have it, but recently bought an '06 SE KC (V-6, 6 spd man).  It's by far the best of my Nissans.   I still can't believe the torque and high gearing this truck has.  At 65 mph, the '00 turns over 2500 RPM.  The new one at 65 is turning 1900 RPMs.

I hated the "industrial" look of the last generation models just prior to the '05s (the riveted look).  I had planned on getting a Titan someday, but with /05, they turned the Frontier into a mini-Titan.  I love it.  It drives and feels like a big truck and is more comfortable than the other two.  I'm also happy that Nissan added the opening rear doors on the King Cab.

As for accessories, if I can buy other than from Nissan, I do it (cheaper...that's me).  My ARE topper from Truck Masters fits perfectly, matches the curve of the rear of the cab, and the color matches my Silver Frontier perfectly.
