www.4x4parts.com there are plenty of intakes out there, you just have to search a little harder.
Also, try reading this thread. It's a sticky in the Performance and Modification section, called "The Basics of Adding HP" Some very good info in there.

Are there any dissadvantages to installing a CAI (other than fronting the $300 or so bucks)? Does it do anything to the life of the engine or any other such mechanical downsides?

i am not too sure of any disadvantages in installing a CAI, but there are plenty advantages that i am sure outweigh the cons. Valentin_84 try emailing this guy and tell him JP Tabor sent you. azoffroad@qwest.net ask him for your application and he can get you a quote, i got an Airaid intake for less than $200. It has done very well for me.

My 06 4.0 V6 appears to have a cold air already. The airbox is next to the driver side wheel well and another tube goes through the wheel well from the airbox. That sounds like cold air to me, right? Or am I totally out there?

thats just the standard intake. the only way to actualy have a true "cold air intake" you to remove the TB heater and have a clean source of outside air. there is a guy on clubtitan that has turned his TB heater into a TB cooler. he is running a trans cooler with a pump that mounts in front of the rad. then plumbed the lines into the TB. so he is cooling the TB instead of heating it. the only problem i see with this is the ecm may keep the truck in "warm up" mode longer than normal.

This sort of in depth engine mod stuff is still above my level, so forgive me for newbie questions. Why is the TB heated in the first place? That would make the mixture rich, thus burn more gas, right? Second, is that a kit or did the Titan guy just make it up himself? And does cooling the TB really make much of a power/efficiency difference?
Can you link that thread on clubtitan?
