Just bought a new Frontier.  Salesman is trying to beg, plead, bully, cajole to get perfect scores on the survey.  He claims there's huge financial pain if he doesn't get the perfect score.

Thing is, the overall experience didn't earn the perfect score, and I told him about it.  Didn't keep his word, screwed up floor mat order, ducked my messages, etc.

Now he's browbeating with I'll be taking food from his kids mouths, etc.

SO, question for all of you is, would you 'lie' for him so he can get his bonus, or tell the truth?

..

Welcome to the group!

There is an old saying about he that casts the first stone. When you think of all the lies, cheating and thievery in Wastington D.C. lieing to help the guy is rather small. Helping the salesman could pay off... he could help take care of a future problem. You might need warantee work later and the salesman could help. It's a tough call.

GooD Luck.. Don S..

It is against my better judgement, but I do agree with
lakota. Helping him now could help you down the road,
loaner when needed, etc.

Thanks for your replies!

In my previous car buying experiences, the salesman was never any help more than a week or two after the sale.  After that, I was pretty much at the mercy of the service advisers.

But your advice was still well taken.  Lakota's mention of the "first stone" made me think about my own faults.  I have plenty ... just ask my wife!

So I had a lengthy discussion with the sales guy and he did his best to make things right.  I guess I'll be giving him the ratings he needs to get his bonus.  Some research I did seems to imply there is maybe a $1000 to 1500 on the line for Nissan sales guys over the customer satisfaction ratings.  Anything less than perfect does indeed mean they get nothing.  That seemed to severe a penalty for basically just being a little weaselly.

Charger490, I read your post about your transmission problem.   I am very sorry to hear it.  In 1999 I had a similar issue with a '90 Ford Taurus with 99,000 miles that I had bought new.  I couldn't get any relief from Ford and ended up junking the car.  It's a tough case to win with higher mileage and an older vehicle.
When you responded to my post I wasn't sure if you were telling me to help the guy or hold him to account.  I have a couple of long shot ideas about what you might try it you have the time and inclination to keeping fighting them.
