To answer my own question,In my 2011 frontier SV kingcab 4X4 V6 automatic,I have minimum of 4 gallons left.I know that because it occurred to me to just fill it up,and subtract gallons added from tank size, which is 21 gallons.
My new truck has 466 miles on it,it had 192 miles when I took delivery 0n July 9,2011.The salesman said he filled it up,I wasn't with him but the gauge read full.I drove 250 miles, then low fuel light came on,I filled up 24 miles later at 274 miles on that tank of gas,18 gallons was all it needed,15.2 mpg.I hope salesman did not have it full,or I am going to be very disappointed with gas mileage,I know motor will loosen up and my MPG will rise to 19 in city and 24 on Highway,I need everyone to pray for my trucks great gas mileage and you all shall be rewarded.I'm just kidding,no sacrilege intended. How about some positive thoughts.

..

Welcome to the group!

I doubt any of those devices are accuate or read the same every time. I gas up at a quarter of a tank. On trips I gas up about every 200 - 250 miles To stretch my legs and a few things... I also log the gas, mileage, place and date. I calulate the fuel mileage each time.. that way I'll know if something is wrong with the engine.

Good Luck! Don S..

Thank You for the welcome,I'm glad to be here.I will be checking my mileage constantly .at least for a year or two.I sincerely like my nissan frontier.I do hear some wind noise from around rear passenger door or back glass, ride is adequate,as is acceleration and handling, brakes are great.I'm not a fan of the BFG longtrail's,but that's not the trucks fault. This is my first foreign vehicle,I traded in a C1500 Sierra SLE extcab V8 with all options, including 15 mpg city and 18 highway.I sold my boat so I couldn't justify expense of a new GMC truck,35K for the way I wanted it equipped. My frontier was 21500 total, which I believe was a fair price,I just had to wait a couple weeks for the color I wanted. My MPG will improve or I will do whatever is necessary to make it better,if I can get 291,672 miles out of this one and its still going strong,I'll be content.
                Take care,Frank

I never let the tank get much below 1/3 full if that.  In tank fuel pumps are cooled by the fuel and if you run the tank too low, the pumps heats up and the life of it is shortened.  Some vehicles, like Saturn L300s, have this as a major issue.

If I am not mistaken, the truck is rated @ 14-19 MPG.

My truck takes 17.5 gallons to top off once the fuel light comes on. The light came on as I was driving up to the pump.
I have been averaging 20-22 MPG, and I am a lightfoot driver. Usually the light comes on around 360 miles on the trip odometer.
