OK, getting my 2001 with 105K on it ready for a 4X4 beach house trip to the outer banks.  Upon checking the spare time I realised that the wheel/rim was rusted so bad, I don't trust it one bit.  After tons of searching online, I realised that the spare is a 15 inch rim where the actual wheels are 16 inch rims.   I was like WTF did Nissan do such a stupid thing!?

Does anyone know where to get a cheep steel rim that would be 16X7 and  not 15 inch?  I can't find them as "will fit Nissan", but I do find them for Toyotas.  They are all 6 lug, but will they fit?    Searching Midwestwheelandtire's web site using both the Nissan Frontier and the Toyota Tacoma find allow wheels of 16X7 with a lug pattern of 6X5.5 for both models.  So they should match, right?  However, I can only find steel wheels listed on other sites under the Tacoma that are 16X7 & 6X5.5.

Now, if I bite the bullet and anti up for a real stock aluminum replace rim - does anyone know if it will even fit in the spare tire well under the truck?

If all you're looking for is a rim to replace the spare
tire, I would just go to a junk yard and pick up a stock
rim for a truck just like yours maybe a few years older or
maybe newer if you could find it. It will probably be in
better shape than the one you have and wont break the bank.

A stock rim SHOULD fit under the bed where the spare goes.
It would make sense if they made it like that....but then
again they did put the wrong size spare on there in the
first place.
