Why do you need to flush an engine? If you have sludge, flushing is NOT a good idea as it will knock a lot of stuff loose and clog the oil pickup screen. If you need to clean out a sludger, use a high grade cleaning oil like Pennzoil and perhaps add some Marvel Mystery Oil to it. Change the oil and filter every 1500-2000 miles for two changes and then go to just regular oil.
NEVER put ATF in your engine! For more info on all of this go to bobistheoilguy.com and read the forums!!

I'm not sure I need at all....just thought it would be beneficial to stay on top of it. The guy I bought the truck from was as anal as I am...he is a servcie tech at a Nissan dealer it took good care of the truck...
I have read so many different opions on the net about ATF in the crank case...I purchased seafoam as I heard from everybody that seafoam is the best thing to use...

If the previous owner was doing his job, there is absolutely NO NEED for a flucs. Modern oils are so much different than oils twenty years ago. Adding Sea foam when not needed is a waste of money but it could also cause damage to seals as it is a strong solvent. If you want a clean out, run a change of any of the Pennzoil oils or Mobil 1. Then just keep using them.

Hey thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions...I actually looked into the valve cover today from the iol fill and it looks pretty damn clean in there. With 128,000 I thought I was going to see some sludge....I actually just odered that Auto Rx ;ast night...now I wish I hadnt. I used the can of seafoan in the gas tank...firhured it couldnt hurt anyhting going that route..I was also using Valvolive max life...what do you think about that?

Valvoline Max Life is an excellent oil. Use it and sleep well at night! Watch oils as they switch over from SM to SN. Also, you'll see a new Dexos approvval on some oils. GM requires this approval for warranty retention on new GM vehicles.

I have had positive experiences with marvel mystery oil. Used it once and it got rid or a noisy lifter.
It is an oil additive
