Thank goodness for warranty.
My '06 Frontier V6 LE has had the rear driveline replaced 2x (out of balance)
and the rear differential just recently. Diff oil was milky and there was a
whine coming from it under load.

I've got 90k KM on it. All hwy miles no off road.
Just a PITA
Anyone else have issues with the drive train?
Hugh

That is surprising. I was looking at my differential and saw that it is made by DANA, a well know company.

Best part is they replaced the Whole rear end, brakes and all. Very weird
seeing a completely clean diff from behind and new brakes through the
spokes of the wheel.

The vent on the dif is a piece of crap! It will plug up
allowing moisture to condense w/in due to heating and
cooling or if you use your truck in deep water, it allows
moisture in. Best fix is to use a nipple and hose from an
older pathfinder, along with a GM style vent(plastic).
Mount the vent up on the frame rail.

Is the crappy vent just on the rear diff or does the front have one as well?
(I have 4X4)

I believe the front has a hose, would have to look to be
sure.

..

Sad to say but the Dana 44 in the the Frontiers and my 'high end' 4x4 1999 Grand Cherokee was a piece of junk when compaired to the Dana 44 that was in my 1976 4x4 Wagoneer 401 V-8. Even the axle tubes were sad. The 1999 GC rear axle was worked on 4 times in two years then completely replaced and it was still a piece of junk.

The Dana 44 in the Wagoneer worked 31 years on the same lube until I put a locker in it... then continued doing Colorado mountain pass 4x4 trails another 6 years.

The Nissan LSD rear end in in my 99 V-6 Frontier 4x4 has been over many Colorado mountain pass 4x4 trails and has served perfectly!!!

Have a goood one.. Don S..
