I'd like to start an up to date survey on this topic.
1. Could you please list the oil you use in your Frontier along with the year and engine in your truck.
2. What is your normal OCI? Do you have a used oil analysis you can post?
3. What filter do you use?
4. Also, any comments that are pertinent. (Tapping at startup, uses a quart every so many miles, etc)
I am a regular reader of the blogs on Bob is the Oil Guy and would like to see if there is one or two oils that folks like best for our trucks.

I have a 2007 V-6 auto. I use Mobil1 5W-30, change it every 5000 miles and use a Nissan oil filter. No issues with th oil. I consume no oil between changes. Motor runs great and give good mileage.

I have a 2003 V-6 5spd. I generally use Castrol high mileage. I have never noticed any being consumed, and I run 5000 miles between changes (I drive mostly highway) Motor runs strong and I get between 16-22mpg depending on how hard I push her, and how much 4wd action she gets.
*Update: I generally have the local napa shop change my oil for me, and I have no idea what filter they use, been way too busy with work.

I have a 04 2.4, I use Royal Purple 5w-30 with a Mobil 1 filter. Some people I heard stick to the 3k, others say 10k, other people say, you don't have to change the oil with a 100% synthetic...just the filter and add oil.
I have done some a few experiments with my oil change intervals. I closely watched the color, smell, gas mileage and feel of engine performance.
At 5k, everything still seemed ok so I kept going. At 10k, I saw a slight decrease in mileage and performance. And decided to change. After the change, mileage went up, and performance seemed restored.
I decided to run with a 7500 mile OCI because its in the middle and up to 7500 I don't really see a noticeable dip in gas mileage or a decrease in performance.

My used vehicles, I use Valvoline Max Life. The wife's new car I have no clue, I let the stealership take care of that, I don't want to touch it with a 10ft pole.
My choice for Valvoline is because unlike some companies that use outside labs, and "claims", Valvoline uses their own lab, and outside labs in comparisons.
But to be quite honest, with today's technology the diferent brands of oil are close to the same. It's not like the olden days when refining practices varied and some companies could leave you with problems.

I have an 08, V-6 with a 6 speed manual. I use Castrol, Nissan filters and change the oil/filter every 3k miles. It doesn't appear to be using any oil, but I only have 9,100 miles on the truck.
This has worked for me (Castrol, OEM filters & 3K mile changes) on all my vehicles for over the 20+ years and I always keep them on the road well over 200k miles. The only exception is my motorhome, which I drive only 3,000 a year. Since that is only one change a year , it gets synthetic (Mobil 1).

Currently I have a 2007, run Pennzoil 10w-40 except for December through February, then I run 10w-30, Fram filter. I ran this same way in my 2000 and 2004 frontiers, both of which had well over 100,000 miles when traded and none used more than 1 pint between changes every 3,500 miles.

I have an '05 Frontier V-6. I've been using Amsoil Full Synthetic 5W-30 and the extended life filter Amsoil sells. 15,000 mile changes, no loss of oil between changes. Like the convenience of fewer oil changes. No problems with it. And I'm not an Amsoil dealer like some readers claim.
