Hey all, im new to the forums but i'm happy i found them. I'm a big Nissan fan, i had a 93 240sx that i beat the hell out of. I loved that car! I have been looking for a Nissan Frontier for about 2 months now. I been riding bikes since i was a kid so its primarily used to transporting my dirt bike/motorcycles back and forth but of coarse i will be using it for other reasons. I am in no rush but i think i found a decent deal. I like to do my homework before  actually buy though so i want to run this buy you.

It's a 2006 Frontier SE Crew Cab, 4x4, 6 speed with 31,000 miles. The truck itself looks mint. They were originally asking $21,000 but i got it down to $16,000. This $16,000 is fter my $2,000 down and after the $2,500 they are giving me for my Civic (which is in awful condition, it has a crack in the manifold, needs a new cat, windows get stuck so its wicked loud on the highway, needs a CV joint and boot, it keeps going out of alignment, no AC). So im thinking thats a good trade in for what needs to be done. However, im pretty sure i can get them to actually take more off the cost of the truck. When you add up my 2 grand and 2500 for the truck they really aint taking much off.

EDIT: I confirmed its $16,900 for the truck AFTER $2,500 trade in for car but before any money down. So if i put $2000 down that brings it down to $14,900, maybe lower based on any new info i learn tonight heh.

I have been browsing the web and i have seen these things range from $14,000 up to $22,000 so i wanted to ask here and get some opinions. ANything else i should be aware of with this truck? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Have you checked prices on new ones? A month or so ago they were practically giving them away in my area, as the gas prices went up the truck prices dropped. I paid 19,900 for an 08 SE KC 4wd (new) back in May,(MSRP 23,895) then around late June people were getting even better discounts, which really stinks seeing I work for a Nissan dealership!

I did check around for new ones but i wasnt getting anything lower than $21,000 area. They are going for around $24,000-$26,000 for the SE with 4x4. I ended up grabbing the 06 i was looking at. I asked around and did some more homework and it worked out to be a good price. I put down another $2,600 which brought the $16,999 down to $14,399. They tacked on some BS "dealer docking fee" of $495 and i rolled in the taxes so i neded up financing $15,900ish at %6.25 for 6 years so my payments are only $269 a month which i sperfect for my situations.

I know some people don't like doing the 6 year thing, but you know what, im in the middle of a hiring process for a good company. I had my 2nd interview and if i get hired paying the thing off won't be a problem but in the meantime this works for me.

Looks like im an official new member of these forums now!

Sounds decent to me.

Are you getting credit though NMAC? Heads up if you want to pay it off early. If you overpay on your monthly payment the extra money goes to interest. The only way to make a principle only payment is to send payment directly to...

Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp.
ATTN: Transaction Processing
PO Box 660577
Dallas, TX 75266-0577

You must write principle only and your account # on the memo line.

It would probably be in your best interest to include a letter with your account number and your specific desire of a principle only payment.

If you ask me, NMAC is light years behind other creditors. You have to jump through hoops to make payments and they charge you to pay online if you don't automatically withdraw. I overpaid my last car, Sentra, and after the fact found out that my money was simply being pissed away on interest. Just want you to have a heads up, I won't make that mistake again.
