hey, i just bought a 2004 crew cab 4x4 xe.  loving it so far. just curious to know if it has any known issuesor little quirks. ive tried doing a search and really havent come up w/ much.  i guess im not using the right words to find it.  i had a 91 toyota pickup and its thing was it would fire hot on cyl 6.  stuff like that.  i already see that some frontiers have gas issues, but i guess ill find out about that soon enough.  anyway, it will be great to hear from ya

ramos,

welcome to the forum and congrats on being the owner of a nissan truck. as far as looking for known issues, one place to look is www.nissanhelp.com and go to the section for frontiers and the year model, it will have a section w/in that area that talks about TSB's (technical service bulletins). another place to look that i noticed while surfing the web, is to go to advance autoparts website and enter make model information and then it will (or use to) have recall information listed someplace on the page after you enter that information. you have got one thing right, tho, these 3.3 V6's are little piggies. they weren't the most efficient motors, my brother had on 05 frontier with the 4.0 that got better gas mileage than my 01 3.3 V6. welcome again.

thanks.

what 60k maintence should i be doing on the truck besides the standard stuff like air, oil, lubes, belts cuz i just purchased it?

those sites u gave me, they really didnt reveal any probs. so i guess it safe to assume that they dont have any real major probs, cpt gas milage and the weird funny noises this truck seems to make.  which is good to hear. little noises better than big expensive ones.

I have an 04 XE 2x4. The only problems I have had is my dipstick doesn't read right, my glove box  shakes and makes noise sometimes, and  my passenger seat  also vibrates whenever it wants.  Its weird because it does it at different speeds and on different road conditions.  Other than that, this truck kills S-10's on the stree...(er I mean strip) and goes through some pretty thick stuff off road (for a 2x4).

does the intake help w/ gas milage much. ive done h/i/e on cars but not sure what kind of differences makes on a truck. dynamics a bit different. just trying to think of mods that would help the gas milage. not really concerned w/ power gains or anything like that but it is a nice bonus.

It helps out with gas mileage, so does the muffler.  They both make the truck louder and more powerful. Sometimes when Im driving in a parking lot the truck sets off  car alarms.

When I put the muffler and the intake on, I went from averaging 23-24mpg to 27-28mpg, and thats mostly highway driving. On the interstate I have gotten 32mpg.

What is "h/i/e"?

Keep in mind that your truck has a lot more weight than mine. Yours is 4x4 and a crew cab with the V6 (I think). The intake and exhaust will help gas mileage, but the truck still is heavy. Also, bigger tires, lifting, and leveling the truck will hurt gas mileage.

Do you have any of those things on your truck? I did not know that the 4x4's got that bad gas mileage.

i didnt realize u have the 4cyl 2.4. taht makes all the difference, plus the 4*4 and the cc. wife wont let me get those toys quite yet. we have been in this new house less than a year.  we r getting a central air put in. i just bought the truck. so no new toys for the truck for a while. even though the intake is prob the first thing i will get.
