FRONTIER or CHEVY COLORADO?

When I was shopping for a mid size truck I considered either the Colorado or the Frontier has my 2 choices.  I was thinking about going w/ Chevy because of the employee discount offer.  But my opinion of the dealers is not good at ALL.  Here is an example.  I visited a dealer told him what I was looking for & we walked to the back of the lot.  He showed me the truck & asked me if I wanted to go for a drive I said sure.  He said drive it to the front after that he asked me for my drivers license & then told to go ahead & drive for about 15 minutes.  I was shocked that he did not come with me as I had a ton of questions.  I went to at least 10 Chevy dealer ships in my area & they either did not give me the welcome I think I deserved.  Unlike the 3 Nissan dealers I went to they were egger to help me.  Gladly I purchased a Nissan Frontier Crew LE.  Let me know if you have any experiences like this.  I am in California in Orange County

Actualy i was in the same situation you were in.  I liked both of the styles of those trucks so i wanted to check out what they had to offer.  I didnt test drive the Colorado but after looking at it in person i relized that its very bla or plan for the money they cost.  Then i  looked at the Frontier (i now have a 02 frontier) They are alot better looking for the money.

Now for dealership people.  The chevy salesmen were a little less helpfull than the nissan dealership.  And when i bought my truck at the nissan dealership they seemed like they wanted me out of there asap.  But i didnt care i wanted that truck bad!  Dont find too many 2002 frontiers 4door 4x4, Yellow exterior with 23,000miles!

Can you believe it took me over eight hours just to drive off w/ my new truck.  I was lowering the price on the truck left & right plus I had a trade in.  They gave me the best deal for it well above Kelley Blue Book value.

I traded in my 1998 BMW.  My son was getting older & I needed something to haul the toys around in.

Chevy/GMC really screwed up on the Colorado/Canyon by not putting the 275 HP inline 6 from the Trailblazer/Envoy on these trucks!  My daughter has an Envoy, and the engine is smooth and powerful.  I think the truck would have been much more competitive with that engine.  GM screwed up even more when they put that anemic inline 5 in the new H3 Hummer, but that's a whole nother story...

I initially considered the GMC Canyon when shopping around, but after comparing specs and cost on the internet, never made it to the GMC Dealership!

I actually took my first test drive in a Frontier while on vaction in Florida.  I fell in love with it, got on the internet and found the closest dealership in my home town and called them.  My salesman was awesome, he had the truck I ended up buying on his lot, and we did most of the negotiations over the phone, on his dime!  After I returned home I stopped by the dealership the following day, and that afternoon she was in my garage!

I also visited a Ford lot (have been a Ford Man for years) and test drove a Ranger with the FX4 Package.  The ride was horrible!  I then looked at the new F-150 and considered getting one being as the incentives were so good I could almost get a comprably equiped F-150 4X4 for about the same price as the Frontier NISMO, but the saleman ended up pawning me off on another sales woman, who acted like she was eager to get us off the lot, so we happlily abligized, and now I'm glad she rushed me off!

Yeah most sales people are looking for a quick dime and dont want to work for there sale.  Its sad.  My salesman were i bought my used Frontier (this was at a Toyota dealership mind you) wasnt the best, if i were to grade him i think it would be a 5 or a 6out of 10 for costomer service.
