love my tuck.

but 1 thing irritated me.....

my front brake were shot and ate the rotors (which were warped) at 26k miles!

i am now just under 40k miles and the set i had put on are going strong. had the rear checked recently, andthey are still good as well. this would tend to indicate that there is an imbalace in how brakes distribute the friction. obviously front brakes wear faster than the rear, but to be metal to metal at 26k miles was a suprise. local dealer said thats not that unusul.... new corvette brakes are only good for 15-20k miles???? i love my truck, but its no corvette.

dealer henmmed and hawed, and said the warranty would have covered the warped rotors, but since the cause of replacement was the metal to metal damage, now the warranty doesnt apply.

any one else had this problem?

I had to replace my front brake pads at 20,000 miles. But I did not have the problem with the rotors. I had them put on the lifetime pads and am at 30,000 miles now without any other break problems yet. I guess the factory breaks are just crap.

Just keep an eye on your breaks and when the time comes to replace them make sure you get the rotors resurfaced to prevent them from being eaten and to prevent uneven wear.

Wow dude you must have been riding those brakes! I had 32,000 on my truck when I changed mine, and I still had at least 4" of pad left to spare. It didn't even get close to the bottom. They are self Adjusting brakes, they shouldn't have worn that quick... AutoZone man. As soon as they wear down, they replace them at no cost for life.
