Ok new question
I've been driving a dodge avenger for the past 11 months. It has been my daily driver in the rain, snow, scorching heat, at night, etc
The avenger is a V6 front wheel drive and very close to the ground.
I was wondering how bad (or good) is going to be the change once/if I start using a frontier as my daily driver? Will I hate it in the future? will I get used to it? no more comfort like the Avenger? I dont know

i wouldn't think it would be a problem, i went from a 240SX, to an 01 CC and I love it..but then i've always liked sitting a little higher and how trucks ride. not that i disliked my 240, very good car, lots of fun to drive, but i am just a "truck" guy i suppose, always liked them. i have ridden in an 05 Frontier KC and found it to be very comfortable, how that compares to your avenger, i do not know, seats are probably a little higher from the floor of the vehicle (can't say for sure). it's gonna come down to basically what you are more comfortable driving. good luck.

The best way to find out, is to test drive one! Most any dealers who want to sell anything, are open to test drives. Just do it.

Well this is my first truck and i like! I've been driving a car forever and i was talked into getting a truck. I had to get used to taking wider turns and such. Other than that driving a truck feels great in my opinion. Sit high, ride over stuff I can keep going on.

ride over stuff? lol.. careful, i'm a motorcycle rider too.
yeah, last weekend I took one for a spin, and from another post:
so I went to a stealership and took the XE for a test drive... I loved the color, the interior space, the quiet engine (but hey, is new... what else is to expect), the not so bumpy ride, etc.
However, there was simply no power on this car A quick take off from a stop or trying to pass another car was something the XE (4 cylinder, 5-speed manual) was struggling to do.
Now I've been driving manual transmission cars for a long long time, but I am sure a VW beettle has more power than this, lol.
In any case, it felt sluggish, comfy, and I noticed that the faster I was going, the less responsive the steering was.. safety feature?
Of course the dealer and manager tried to sell it to me on the spot, yada yada.. we know how it is. But now that I got to 'feel it' I am not so sure anymore. lol
I still like it a lot, but I wonder how would the car respond with a heavy load on the back.

My previous ride was a 94 Nissan HB std cab, 2wd, 2.4l 4 cyl, 5 spd...I loved my little white truck! had plenty of get up & go. I left many a big v8 at the stoplight eating my dust! lol Got great gas mileage too! I miss that truck, traded it with 192k on the clock and it still ran tight as a champ, never leaked any oil.
The newer model is a heavier truck and I've heard the 4cyl is very under powered due to this power to weight ratio. Get the v6, the new 4.0 has tons of power, I've heard 240 -260 hp, compared to the 3.3 in my 2002 CrewCab which feels kind of sluggish at times.

That's a load, subc, that you posted. I drove an XE, with automatic tranny, this week, and even with the A/C on full bore, it ran well and while not as fast as the 6 banger, it had plenty of pep, especially compared to my '02 4cy./five speed. the 2.5 is a stout 4 cylinder, and better than most. If your writer thinks an XE is bad, he oughta try a four cylinder Ranger. Those are pigs, pure and simple.

Yes you can, if you are anything like me, which I really don't know, so maybe, I mean, being that you are you and I am I, so probably not, since I really like the ride, but clearly you are not me.
Nah, I think you will be very happy with it. Definately go the 6 route though. I'm getting around 20 mpg with mixed traffic and 4WD long bed. I love the thing. I like the seating differnce for my legs too. In our car my butt is too close to the floor (like the Toyota Taco) but in my Fronty I am a little elevated from the floor and that really helps my back on my trips just under an hour.
I was skeptical as well, but I feel great in the thing, good leg room, responsive engine, and while the steering requires more effort than a car, I prefer it. It makes it feel a little more solid, I don't overcorrect as much.
Dr. Kwan
