Just to see what they had, I stopped by the local-est dealership today, as I wanted to see what kind of stock they had. They didn't have a single Frontier I was interested in, in fact, all they had were four XEs in stock. I jabbered with the salesman who'd sold me my current truck, and was IN my truck, starting to leave, when the business manager came trotting across the lot. He wanted to know what it would take to get my business, so I told him," An SE King Cab, Storm Gray, with a Value Package, and I didn't see any in the lot"

He went on and on, wanting to eyeball my truck closer, and told me he could find anything, and would be happy to find what I was after. I told him that I had some other bills to take care of, then about the first of next year, I'd be ready to deal. I was trying to get rid of him.

He asked if I wouldn't take delivery earlier, and put off payments until  New Years, he could arrange that. Well, I could work with that, easily enough. He had a fit when he found out I only had 48K miles on the current '02, he says he's got it sold as soon as I'm ready. I hope they burn in Hades..........

Anyways, Tuesday I'm going to run over there and see what we can work out. NO account rascals are twisting my arm, and I think they mean business..... I wish I hadn't stopped by there............. I don't need a new truck, but a new one would sure be nice for that trip I'm planning in November. Damn them, damn them all..........

Well, we couldn't come to terms on a deal, so I left with the "old" truck, which, oddly enough, seems to be just fine with me. I didn't have any need to trade, anyway, it was just a whim on my part. I will say that even the XE w/automatic is a pretty nice truck, it just wasn't what I was after, though they tried real hard to get me into one (I KNOW what I want, they just didn't want to get me one, they wanted to sell one on the lot, in a color I hated). NO sale!

At least at that dealership Luckily, I have three other dealerships within 7 miles of me, stopped by one of them this evening, and got indications of deal-making to be made, in fact, they'd already dropped the price of the exact model I was looking at, down $2500 without any dickering at all, it was posted in the window. Hmmmmmmmm.... Got an appointment Saturday morning, maybe I'll be in a new truck even yet......

SE King Cab, Alarm Red, and the color is very well named, it'll be awful hard to miss that sucker traveling down the road. I'll have to relearn how to drive though, as that HONKIN' big V-6 has about twice the power to the tires as the old grey mare did. It's not hard learning to drive an automatic again, after all these years, but the new truck is considerably larger than the '02, so I'll have to be very careful until I get used to the new dimensions. NICE truck, probably nicer than I deserve.
