There are several bulbs out there touted as being much brighter or whiter.    Try Silverstar or Sylvania.  This is nice cause it's just a bulb r&r.  I would hesitate to going to HId.  There is no guarantee that your headlight housings are large enough to handle the extra heat.  I would be especially concerned cause the lenses is plastic, not glass.  I also looked into this conversion ($300!) and they strongly recommended that I not do it.  I asked and they told me that ne legislation by '10 was going to outlaw them.  Not that you would have to remove them if you already had them, but you would ne be able to buy any new pasrts should something go wrong.  You would then be forced to switch back to the oem style.

BUt do you really need them?  I quite like mine.  THat's all I know.  Whether the legislation actually comes down or if is just her e in Canada is anyones guess.  I'd rather not chance it.

Look at this link. http://www.nissanfrontier.org/forum_posts.asp?TID=1724&P N=1

Thiss been discussed before. There are alternatives but it requires getting replacement projector units as wellas the HID conversion. kit.

my 2c don't just put HIDs in.

How long has mankind been on the road?  So qhy do we all need HID's all of a sudden?  There is no substitute for awarenss, common sense, and good judgement.  I agree, I wouldn'y put out the cash just fo the fun.  If the road appears that dark then maybe you should reconsider driving at night or at all.  I have to admit though that HID's are pretty cool.  But a sweet set of aftermarket auxiliary driving lights are way cheaper, look cool and are cheaper to maintain and run.  Thye can oalso offer much higher returns on your efforts, better benefits.  The best I ahve come across is from Lightforce.

Bulletproof lenses, various clip-on lense options for any condition, lightweight, watertight, low amp draw, mega light output, and they wonl't melt your headlight lenses!  Plus, you can take them with you to your mext vehicle.  Batteries not included.

In defense of HIDs:

If installed in a the proper recepticle IE a projector lense unit, Hids are amazingly great.

I found a source for Projectors for the 05-08 body types. I'd love to seem them before I popped the $ for them. (see thread link above)

I did do a HID conversion on my Audi and as stated ealier in this thread or the linked one I find that my high beams fill in the blanks but the lows go a long way down the road with no one flashing me. The key is the sharp cutoff built into the lens. The reflectors in our truck just were never designed for this type of lighting.

However not all HID lights are the same I have a buddy with a Volvo XC70 with Bixenons lights.  The light coverage is really crap! No idea why but I've heard comments about This particular Volvo light unit.

Maybe that is the key after all.  I wouldn't have thought that a total swap would be better than a straight across conversion in the existing housing.  I can see your point.  Still not going for it though.  I need a friend with way more $$$ than me.  I'd just stick close tohim and make recommendation on how to spend his $$$ and see how the trials turned out

Going HIDs into the stock housing is a hit and miss deal.  Some housings are designed well enough that you can easily swap in a TRUE HID kit.  They shine the light exactly where it needs to be and doesn't blind on coming traffic.  Take my 02 Toyota Highlander for example.

Others, they spray light all across the place, and you cannot adjust the pattern so it won't blind other drivers. and will require getting the actual headlamp assembly meant for the HID.

I've got these for sale and they are on my truck right now.  This is the best investment that we've put on the car so far.  lmk.
