Hello everybody :)  First time poster here on the forums, i'm the proud owner of a 2005 nissan frontier CC 4x4 nismo edition.  It's my 3rd nissan and i plan to get a 4th in due time.

I picked up a set of 17" xterra rims and tires for really cheap, but they don't have the TPM sensors.  I'd like to keep the TPM's in the BFG tires and either get another set for the xterra rims or just mount them without TPM sensors.

Will it hurt anything or cause the truck's computer to freak out if I install the new rims with standard valve stems?

I'm of no help to you with this question but i also have a problem with the TPMS. I just did a 5 tire rotation last night and today i have the warning light on! I realize the problem with thte lack of sensor in the spare rim but i'd like to know if anyone has or know how to disable the TPMS so i can continue to do 5 tire rotation to get even were on all tires! I plan to put bigger better tires on when the factory ones wear out so i'll no longer have a use for the current spare at that time, i will replace it with whatever new tires i get! I just want to get use out of it!

thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Moe! (as in Nis-Moe)

Matt, It shouldn't hurt anything. The only thing is that the low pressure light will just stay on in the guage cluster. Others have gotten rid of their sensors in the tires, especially if they run another set of tires to off road with.

Moe, As far as I know there is no way to disable the TPMS. You have to deal with the light being on, or cover it with some tape. I believe the lights in the gauge cluster are soldered into a circuit board, so you can't just take a bulb out.

I really dislike and don't need the tpms either. Found no way to disable
either. I begged the tire shops to not calibrate it or remove the sensors, but
they are bound by our DOT laws now and must replace if equiped. It will be
standard equipment on all vehicle by '08. The bulb has to be reaplceable, or
you could just get pliers and crush it. I just let it stay on in the hopes that it
burns out soon I am pretty sure it is part of the ecm as there is no fuse
for it.

Yes it is part of the ECM.  When I switched to winter rims with TPMS valves the light came on and the dealer changed it out.

I went all last winter with the light on. PITA but' you get used to it.

I put standard valve stems in my new rims and mounted them up.  I do -not- have a TPMS light on my dash and it does not beep at me.

hmm lucky you.  I tried to get that done but everywhere I go they tell me that they MUST install and reset the oem senders.  I guess I'll have to try and sneak into a shop at night and do the job myself.  Besides, my baby could use a little quiet alone time with me anyhow.
