I want some step rails for my 06 Crew Cab. What would you recommend? Should I go aftermarket or buy the OEM?

Personally, I like the looks of the OEM step rails best VS the aftermarket.
I had the same issue with my Ranger, went with the OEM ones.

It depends upon whether the step rails go lower than your frame. My F-250 my Westin's don't, so they only become an issue if I come upon a rock to one side.
BTW, if you go aftermarket, go with 4Wheelparts.com They have a Offroader's warranty. Anything happens to the step rail, you get a new one free.
Look around though, they'll beat any competitor's price. I found my Westin Platinum for about $150 less somewhere else online, and just called up 4wheelparts.com (btw, call them, they're online service is pretty much non-existent)

Just curious, feedback welcomed:
I just bought a new 2011 Frontier Crew Cab SL It has the step rails on it.
I'm not used to having step rails, and they seem to be getting in the way, especially when I get out of the truck. I'm used to just stepping down onto the pavement, but the step rail gets in the way and hits the back of my ankle.
So, I'm thinking of taking at least the driver's step-rail off.
Most of the other Frontier models do NOT have a step rail, and they are all pretty much the same step-in height (I measured an SV vs the SL, for example, same height even though the SL has 18 inch tires vs 16 inch tires!).
---So, for those of you who have SL's or other models with step-rails, do you find the driver's step-rail helful for getting in, or out, or a pain in the ass at times?
And for those who do NOT have step-rails, do you wish you had them?!
Thanks!
Elliot

Elliot:
On my '99 4x4 the rails guard the rocker sills from rock damage when doing narley trails in Colorado. They sometimes help prevent paint dings from other peoples doors.
This was an OLD thread...
Have a good one.. Don S..

Thanks Don---
I don't plan to do any off-roading, but the door ding thing is interesting.
I know this is an old post that I added to.
So, where do I put this inquiry so people will see it? Do I do a new post? How does one do that?
Thanks!
Elliot

Thanks Don. I'm a newbie, so not sure how all this forum stuff works yet.
If you think it will get more exposure as a brand new post, then yes, please re-post it so I get some feedback.
As everyone either has, or does not have, step rails, I was hoping for several replies to help me make up my mind.
Thanks again.

Ihave the factory rails on my 07 Crew cab and like them. I go off road to hunt but don't do "rock climbing". I have never had an issue with hitting anything as they are about the same as the frame rails. I do like the convenience of stepping up on them and find them useful when washing the truck. I'd buy them again.
