I have a 2002 Frontier 4x4 V6 Supercharged and when I first start it up the power steering will not turn to the left but it will turn to the right just fine. It starts turning fine after I drive it about a mile or less. I can't think of what might cause this. Anyone have any suggestions?

..

Monkey Man;

... Welcome to the Frontier bunch!!

PS fluid gets very hot.  There is a possibility the additives in the power steering fluid are worn out. When the oil is cool it doesn't flow through the valves as well.  Change it out with some new stuff and see how that works out.

Have a good one   and CUL.. Don S..

Is there any easy way to drain the fluid or is a siphon my best bet? Thanks for the help.

What I did was get a turkey baster suck out the old stuff add new. Then start it up cycle the steering a couple of times repeat step 1 till you get it looking clean it will take about 3 or 4 times.

I used a large syringe I purchased at a vet supply store, siphoned out as much as I could, and replaced with Lucas power steering fluid.  No problems at all since switch.
