I have a 98 Frontier 4cyl. Last night on the way
home it started acting up. It idles fine and runs
well until I apply heavy fue(try to engage passing
gear). Any ideas? I did fill up yesterday
afternoon, but I put approximately 40 miles on it
before the issue came up.

..
The only fuel problem I had was water in the gas when I fueled up. I got about 14 miles before the problems and made in back home after work to drain the tank a little then put in an additive for water. there was one quart of water all together.
Good Luck.. Don S..

Might want to replace your fuel filter.
