Happy ThanksGiving,
Hope Everybody is doing Well,, and Hope Your Truck's are
running Good Too.
So far so good with my '13 V6 Frontier. Engine is quiet,
Shift's Good, and Pleased with the MPG @ 20.4 Average.
Finally figured out, why there was a Delay/Slack/Jerk
when takeing off from a dead stop,, like at a Traffic
Light.
Don't know exactly why the Dealership's that I consulted
didn't know or how to check the ATF Fluid Level.
Without a Scangauge to display ATF Fluid Temperature, so
that an accurate fluid level can be taken with the ATF @
149F Degree's, useing the Hot Range. I was told by the
Service Manager to drive a little bit and check the
Fluid, but not run the shifter through all the gear's,
which is contrary to the Service Manual. I finally
yielded to checking the Fluid Level useing the Cold Range
per the service manual. From my Hardbody Day's the
service manual said that it had to be rechecked useing
the Hot Range on the Dip Stick. But Driveing the '13 V6
varie's the Fluid Level a lot,, depending on how far you
drive.
Pretty easy to do, after letting the Truck sit overnight,
just crank up the engine on idle and let the Water
Temperature Gauge get to Normal Operateing Temperature,
Run the Shifter through all the gear's and return to
Park, with the Engine Running Check the Level useing the
Cold Range. This work's good,, because the AFT Fluid is
being warmed up by the Radiator to get to the proper
Temperature for useing the Cold Range.
My Truck was delivered from the Factory with Low Coolant
and Low ATF Fluid. Only took about 8 oz to get the level
in the middle of the Cold Range on the dip Stick. Once
the level was correct, the Delay/Slack/Jerk on Takeoff
from a Dead stop was illeminated.
For information purpose's, on the Cold and Hot Range on
the Dipstick,, it only take's 8oz between the Low and
Full mark's in each range.
I hope there wasn't any Transmission Damage during this
time. Only time will tell,, but I don't think that there
was. Fluid smells Sweet, no burnt smell, Fluid appear's
crystal clean, and Transmission Appear's to shift good.
Just had a Delay/Slack on takeoff,, that alway's bothered
me, that I finally figured out what the problem was.
Amazing that the Nissan Dealership's that I consulted
said that it was normal, when all that was needed was to
properly check the ATF Fluid Level.
Happy ThanksGiving.
