Mileage has been about 15 around town. Just bought the 2004 Frontier
4 cyl 5 speed. The a/c compressor operates all the time on any setting.
Set on heat only, the ac cycles on and off. I believe the dealer does not
want to fix it.

The A/C system can lower the fuel mileage up to 3 mile per gallon.
It could be an expensive computer problem. One could wire in a switch on the dash to the wire feeding the clutch and manually control it. The clutch is the disc in front of the pump, look for a black wire going to it.
Designed over use of computers is a big problem. I dislike computer controlled automatic transmissions and a few other stupid ideas.
Good Luck.. Don S..

Thanks for the reply. If I cannot fix it properly , I will switch the system
off as you suggested.

Disconnecting the a/c clutch improved fuel mileage much. I installed a
new fan resister and got #2 fan speed working. I hoped that would fix
the a/c clutch problem also. Not. Any other ideas. I have unplugged the
clutch. However, the idle speed increases as if the a/c was requested.

You would have to reprogram the computer...
If I could have done that I'd be making twice the retirement income.
It could be a ground problem, in the switch or computer.
Dang... I knew everything when I was a teenager.. Don S..
