While I love my Nissan trucks, I find the front and rear bumpers to be
mostly candy ass appendages. However, a friend of mine was trading
in his old Toyota Tacoma truck for a new one and removed the after
market bumpers. So after consideration I took the rear bumper to a
metal fab shop, cut it in half and added a center section, reused the
Nissan bumper horns (for added strength) and a little refitting I had a
strong rear bumper for my 2005 Dual cab. The next part was to reuse
the front license box and some handy motorcycle bolts that had light
bulbs inside they rear license plate issue was resolved.
My partner in life seems to have issues backing up and this time
as luck would have it Shock Works had just the ticket. We placed
the order and waited and the large package came in a rather large
box in which they poured foam around the entire bumper which
protected against some of the neanderthals of shipping...what a
concept! After unpacking, review of parts list...the most amazing
thing was that it fit perfectly with no adjusting holes or anything and
the backup lights function as well.
So at this writing the Dual cab has an ARB front bumper, custom
fabbed rear...and by the way the front has taken two hits by deer and
saved the entire front end....a worthy expense....the rear recently
was hit by a person in the parking lot of Home Cheapo, provided a
big dent to thiers...perhaps they will learn to back up or look. The
2011 Nissan Ext cab which now sports a shock works rear just
absorbed my wife's attempt at backing up with a low post...with no
damage....will replace front soon as the deer population in the upper
western side near PA has grown out of control in the People's
Republic of New Jersey!
