Several days ago my fan would not come on in any position, but the panel light lit. Ironically, I was on my way to the mechanic's for scheduled maintenance, so I asked him to check it out. When I returned later that day, he said it worked fine immediately upon driving it into the shop. Yesterday it worked fine, but again today it would not come on. I brought it into my heated garage for several hours and it worked fine again. This truck sits out year around and during last year's severe winter weather I had no problems. What's up? All suggestions appreciated.

Next time it doesn't work, tap on the blower motor with the
switch on and see if it comes operates. If so, you need to
replace it. Sometimes the brushes stick as they wear and
don't contact the armature. What is your in service date
and how many miles?

Just serviced yesterday with about 61,000 miles on it. Where is the fan motor located?

Ok-found the motor and removed it as its about 10 degrees outside and its not working again. When I removed it, I could move the cage by hand, but it wouldn't move otherwise. Now that its been in the house for about a half hour, it can spin about one revolution. It appears to be a completely sealed unit-unable to be worked on?? A new motor at the dealership is about $185.00!! I've not found another source on the internet yet and the local NAPA store doesn't stock them. Ideas?
Rick
PS. Right now water is seeping out between the cage and the motor casing!

Years ago I drilled near the bearings of a sealed electric motor and oiled it. The motor worked about five more years.
Good luck.. Don S

There is a TSB to install a seal kit to prevent water entry
into the blower motor, might want to check with your
dealer.

Ok-success! (so far) I removed the cage and found rust dust on the motor, blew everything out, removed the motor from its casing and found condensation at the bottom of the casing. I drilled a drainage hole, reassembled everything last night-it started right up this morning at 2 degrees outside! Did some research and found new motors at True Blue auto parts for about $60.00. The seal kit at the stealership is about $40.00 and nothing more than four pieces of weather strip foam stuck together on installation to create a dam against water entry. I'll wait and see if my modification holds up- if not, I'll buy the $60..00 motor and make up my own damn dam!
Thanks for all the input everyone.
