Just wondering what the thoughts are about buying the extended warrany or not. Sure seem like a lot of money for coverage that piggy backs the originall warranty for the first 3 years.

hwyflyer;
... Welcome to the group!!!
The extended warrany is a crap shoot like gambling in Vegas. I bought it with my 'New" 99 Frontier in Dec 1999 and never needed it. Some extended warranys are Nissan, or Dealer, and some are third party. I would only buy Nissan.
Have a good one and “Jeep Jeep!” CUL.. lakota

I wish I would have bought one Ehaust manifolds and a leaking lower intake manifold that I had would have been covered.

i wouldnt go for extended warranty or that "gap" coverage the dealer tries to sell you when you buy...its just extra money that your essentially adding to the sticker cost for some unforseeable reason....unless you plan on driving over serious boulders or through a muddy river...its pointless; your truck will more than likely not have any issues with it in that 3 year/36k mile warranty period...but if you do some extreme stuff...you might want too....shop smart----shop S-Mart!!

The GAP insurance is always a good idea, unless you have a short term on your loan. All it takes is one idiot to total your truck, or one small patch of ice... etc. Allstate is the only company that i know that will give you more money than the value.
Extended warranties, hard to say. Mine friend got lucky with his, saved his butt from a huge bill. Me, I've never run into the need for one. But of course I'm a mechanic by trade.

NEVER put out money for an extended new car warranty until the original factory warranty runs out. Doing otherwise is a waste of money. When you buy a new car with a 36-month warranty you don't even know if you will be in that car for 3 years. There are many auto warranties out there you can pick up at the 36-month point. Save you money and use it for something you really need.

My first 87 Nissan Hardbody (4 cyl/4 spd auto)...I got an extended warranty. I never used it. I drove the heck out of that truck for 11 years, and put 250K miles on it. I had the valve cover off once to adjust valves. I put some auto trans additive in at 100K miles. I never had any work done on it. I replaced expendables (wires, plugs, belts, brakes etc. as needed). What a waste of money.
I got a 2000 Frontier (4 cyl/4 spd auto) which has 99K miles after 6 years. I didn't bother to get the ext. warranty. I just bought an '06 SE (6 spd manual)...no ext warranty. I figure I'm ahead of the game if anything happens that needs work, but with my previous experience, I don't expect any problems.
BUT!!!!! I attribute part of my "luck" to good preventive maintenance. I've always changed my oil and filter at 5000 miles (it will be 3750 per the manual on the new one), and changed the auto trans fluid every 40K-50K miles. I never thought an auto trans would last 250K miles, but mine did. Treat your truck like you'd like to be treated and it will give you good service.

PS:
You can still get an aftermarket ext warranty anytime before your original one runs out if you feel you need one. By then, you'll have a good idea whether or not you need one.

i really dnt know if its worth it i bought the extended warranty for my 05 4x4 nismo, but once the find any form of mud they void it. happend to me so now my engine has been voided, but i can still get my speakers replaced for free when the blow out so if you do buy an extended warranty dont drive through the mudd or jus really clean it extremely well
