Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not, but I wanted to post and see if others have.
I have a 2002 Frontier SVE (Supercharged Value Edition) 4x4 Crewcab LB with 99,235 miles, and for about 2 weeks I have been hearing what sounds like a gear mesh whining sound coming from the nose area of the supercharger. I opened the hood and listened around to different area's to see if I can isolate it. It sounds just like a powersteering pump when its low on fluid, but all that in my truck is good. Fluid levels are all normal and I was able to isolate it to the pulley area on the supercharger. As RPM's go up, the whine pitch gets higher. It's not the normal supercharger belt whining sound that is normal, this is out of the ordinary and very noticeable.
Has anyone encountered this problem yet, and if so...what was done to correct it. I may just buy a new/used supercharger and also change the drive belt since it has not been changed yet and see if that fixes it.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You
