Here’s a thread about Modeling Hobbies in case anyone is interested.
The wife and I have done quite a few hobbies over the years. I ran the largest Model shop in the Ft. Worth - Arlington area for 28 years. Modeling railroading, like NASCAR, is a lot more complex than just running around in circles!
Some like to buy Lionel three rail O-27 and just put it together then run around in circles… but, you see, they had to snap all that stuff together in a track plan. But the art of designing, building and operating a large complicated train layout and make it look like real life complete with the dirt and grime is an engineering challenge.
A model railroad can model time and space so history and geography needs to be studied. In the 1950’s steam and diesel locomotives ran on some of the same railroads even coupled together. Photography, electronics, art and drafting are other interesting sidelines of modeling. So modeling can be an educational tool for young and old.

Forty three old ice refrigerated cars (Micro-Train) roll behind triple headed UP ‘Big Boys’… smoke photo shopped.

The Great Grandson is learning while playing. At three years old he was able to quickly put Micro-Train fright cars on the track by hand.
If there is enough interest we can start threads on other Hobbies... like Murdercycle Racing... or RC planes... etc. Send me a PM...
Have a good one.. Don S..
