2002 Nissan frontier V6 3.3l
I made the mistake of running the truck low on gas one morning but figured I still had enough to get to the corner gas station. I parked the truck at my house, turned it off, went inside for a few minutes, came back out and I couldn't get it to start. The engine will will try and start but it wont catch. I figured I had ran it dry so I put about a quarter tank in it and tried again, it started this time but only ran for about 30 seconds before dying, then it wouldn't start again, same problem.
I replaced the fuel filter, thinking maybe I had clogged it. While I had the gas line removed from the filter I had someone try and start the vehicle to check if the fuel pump was pumping, which it was (though I haven't checked the pressure). The replaced fuel filter didn't fix anything either. I noticed that I can smell gas from the engine comparmtent when I try to start so I assume that gas is getting to the engine. I am considering problems with fuel injectors (though I imagine it would start even if one or two were bad) or the fuel pressure regulator.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
