I am working on a 2001 Frontier with 3.3l sc eng. the issue is the temp guage reads high. I have replaced the thermostat and the radiator. I am not getting coolant circulation in the radiator. The top will be hot and the lower hose is cold. The truck does have good heat. When I filled the coolant system, I used a tool to pull a vaccium on the coolant system, it held vac. so I don't suspect I have any leaks or air pockets. Kinda scratching my head????

If you're not getting circulation it's going to be your
water pump. But it also depends upon how "high" it's
reading.

I agree, and probably would have gone there sooner if it dident have any or poor heat but it has good heat. I think my next move is going to be to remove the thermostat and see if I get any circulation in the radiator.

I honestly think it is, but then again it's not in front of
me. Could be a bad temp sensor or faulty gauge.
How high is the temp gauge reading anyway.

removed thermostat and have plenty of circulation. The guage goes to just bellow "H". Used block tester to see if compression gasses in coolant system, that was neg. wondering if I could have gotten bum thermosta???

Disconnect the temps sensor and if you have a multimeter
ohm across it. I'm wondering if you just have a bad sensor
or gauge. Your year has been known to have instrument
cluster problems.

turns out it was the coolant sensor for the guage. even though the infred thermometer agreed with the guage, the actual coolant temp agreed with the coolant system. the sensor for the guage was an aftermarket one. replaced coolant sensor and theromostat with oem parts problem solved.
