I need some help here. I bought a 2005 LE 4x4 crew cab new from dealer and have 168k miles on it.
I load it up with dudes and bikes all the time and think i pushed this lil truck to its limits.
It's treated me well in every aspect besides suspension. I replaced all 4 shocks with OE shocks i got online and it rides like crap.
It bottoms very easily - (1) 250lb dirt bike and going 70 mph on the freeway it'll bottom if theres a big enough swell in the road. it's also extremely harsh - little pot holes through me all over the place.
i don't remember it being this way when new, all i can think is that i got some sand in some places it shouldn't since i went to the dunes with it and it's all seized up. but no one else thinks thats its.
i also got those firestone airbags, and i can't run them because it'll put too much spring rate and throw the back wheel of my dirt bike up in the air after a bump (not enough rebound dampening on stock shocks i think) and it also raised my ride height quite substantially - which i don't think is good for the truck
im thinking about getting some adjustable rancho shocks. anyone else had horrible experience with these stock shocks? my friend was telling me maybe my srping rate (leaf springs) is too soft- now that i have new shocks - its riding higher in travel and that's why it's harsh, but blows through its' travel too easy.
Do leaf springs ever wear out. anyone know a good norcal shop to go to?

When you say "OE shocks", are they Nissan shocks or OE type
shocks??? Have you checked for any broken springs? Shocks
will not change your ride height.
