I was told yesterday that the Nissan Frontier is scheduled to stop production after this 2012 model year. I certainly do hope that is a false rumor. Can anyone shed light on that?

Welcome to the group!

They were worried about the 'slow selling' Titan. There will be a 2012 model.

It's about time for a make over for the Frontier. I doubt they would change the name.

Some makers might be looking into making mini trucks again.

Have a good one.. Don S..

I did see that Nissan will make a Titan Diesel come 2014:

I cannot hyperlink it for some reason..

I goof it up... I tried to fix it rather than redo it. Post it again and I'll try to do it correctly.. sorry... lakota

Thanks for the responses. I'm an unhappy  Tacoma owner whose '00 extracab 4WD "Lunar Mist Metallic" beauty bought new, now with 75k miles, matching fiberglass Leer cap and trailer hitch suffered - after 12 years of flawless ownership - the indignity and inconvenience of not passing the second frame recall. Toyota says I'll get a good-sized check, which I will believe after it is in hand. Never expected to be out shopping again. Test drove a Nissan pickup (or maybe it was still Datsun) before my '91 Mazda and was impressed. Now drove a '12 Frontier V6 standard shift and am even more impressed. Good ratings from Consumer Reports. Price more affordable than new Tacoma or even comparatively, the used ones at the local dealer.

The information suggesting the model may be discontinued came from a competing salesman. Wonder why? So again, thanks for any info, as I don't normally spend my free time following automotive news. But this is important to know.

Quote... " • 2013 Nissan Titan: After breaking off plans to build a new Titan with Chrysler, Nissan has now moved the project in-house and expects to have an all-new truck ready in two or three years. Look for the second-generation Titan to offer more body styles and engine options to better align it with the more popular trucks in its class."

Best guess is Frontier will remain Basically unchanged 2013 -2014- models do to sharing a few parts with the Titan.

Taco frame buy outs have been a good deal for some of the people that managed to get them. One guy bought one used and made a nice profit!!!

Still if my '99 Frontier rusted out I'd be pissed. It only has 48,000 miles and is like new!

Happy New Year.. or is it Bunny egg time/.. Don S..

The guys that told me this apparently false rumor have now been advised to check their facts. So thanks. Today I bought one. Shifts like butter. Six speeds forward, wooey!
