MY 98 FRONTIER XE 4CY IS HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. OVER THE PAST COUPLE WEEKS TWICE IN THE MORNING WHEN ITS A LITTLE COLD AND DAMP THE TRUCK DONT WANT TO START. IT TURNS OVER, BUT WONT START. I CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS AND WHY IT ONLY DOES IT SOMETIMES. IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE LET ME KNOW....

First I would check to see if you are getting a good spark to the plugs. Have you done a tune up Cap/Rotor plugs? I would check these things first.

I CHANGED THE ROTOR CAP/ROTOR ABOUT 9 MONTH AGO AND THE PLUGS A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. I WILL CHECK THE SPARK. THE ONLY THING I HAVE NOT CHANGED IS THE WIRES. THERE STILL ORIGINAL. THANKS FOR THE INFO..

Also some thing to look at is the Rotor the screw that holds it on can work its self loose this has happen to a couple of guys I know there trucks would turn over but not start.

Forgot make sure that the Battery terminals are also tight.

I wanted to let you know I fixed the problem. I had to replace the distributor. It worked out good. I decided to put some money back into my frontier instead of getting a new one. Im replacing all mechanical parts that need to be replaced. I have 125,000 miles on her. Im also adding a 3" supension lift with 31x10.5 tires. I got the headliner replaced cleaned the inside and replaced the cd player. The trucks starting to look good. I will post some pics when it's done. I appreciate the feed back.
