Hi, new the sight and have many questions, ill start with this one.  Just got an '11 pro 4x.  Does ne 1 know what is needed to set up a standard 4 pin trailer light cable.  Do i need to get one of the assemblies that pulls power from the battery, or can i get a "plug and play" cordset.

Just got my '11 pro 4x as well-no trailer pkg.  The accessories section in the build your own section in the nissan usa webstite shows what looks like a simple a plug in harness, but the owner's manual states that 'when splicig int the vehicle electrical system, a commercially available pwer-type module/converter must be used.. this unit uses the vehicle battery as a direct power source"..etc, etc.

So will the accessory do the trick?

Hi, new here too.  Just bought a 2011 extended cab, manual xmsn v6 and dealer told me they could not provide a wiring harness pigtail for my model truck.  They advised me to go get an aftermarket one installed.  Well, I had a new "converter" type plug kicking around in storage that my buddy gave me a few years back that I decided to try.  I wire helos for a living so this was supposed to be a piece of cake.  So I found the accessory plug mounted under the frame and proceeded to check voltages.  The only wires that did anything were the frickin turn signal wires.  No parking lights or brake light wires are going to that little white plug.....wtf right?  So I checked that black plug right next to it, the one with only the two bigger contacts.  Nothing.  So what gives?  Well I then decided to tap right into the main disconnect for the two rear light assemblies and license plate harness.  So I mapped the wires, they all checked and proceeded to splice on my 5 wire converter plug.  I noted that the truck wiring was only like 20ga....which I thought was a little strange.  Well I back up to check my installation on one of my boat trailers and guess what?  Parking and Brake lights work fine but the darn turn signals trip off as soon as you turn them on.  So Now I have to try 2 or 3 times to blink the turn signals before the relay will finally latch hold and keep flashing.  I assume that the added load is more current than what the turn signal relays are used to and that's why they wont hold......also this might be because of the tiny gauge subframe wiring.  What's up with that anyway?  Trying to save weight? Money on copper?   So anyway, I'm thinking about making a change to led lights on the trailer for less draw.  I'll post my findings.  Would love to know if anyone has had this problem or experiences/solutions for this annoyance.  I just hope it pops a fuse if it is a loading problem before it smokes a harness.....

btw, a wiring diagram would be great if anyone wants to share!!

..

Welcome to the group gentilmen!

This is a do it yourself type site. Someone with the answer might show up yet ....We try to help each other when we have the knowlage to do so. My old Frontier was the top of the line model and came with tow package and that was only a five pin connector.  There have been a lot of Trailer wire questions. If anyone posts a good fix I will make it a sticky.

One of the problems in solving the trailer wire hook up is the wire set up may vary from year to year or model to model.

Check the link below:

Good Luck!! Don S..

ok don thanks.

update, temp fixed my blinker problem by going to led lights on trailer.  reduced load on flasher relay allows it to latch and hold apparently...

hope that helps.

just can't get them wet but my lights are up high and dry.
