Ok, instead of posting this question as a follow up to another lift/suspension issue I decided to put it in it's own post. When doing a Torsion bar crank to get lift out of the front end in combination with a add-a-leaf in the rear I understand that you can't go more than like 2" up front w/o putting your steering in serious jeapordy of breaking. Now i'm not using my truck for offroading so I won't be putting a ton of stress on my front end, however some of the roads around here are pretty rough. My question is, I'm only looking for like 1-1.5" of lift and wondering if a steering stabilizer that some peeps put on their off road rigs would be something to consider even tho i'm most likely not gonna run any bigger tires for awhile? Would this be a good investment to protect the steering components? I've learned that if you are just daily driver you can get away with torsion crank w/o any serious risk of damaging front end components, but just wondering what y'alls thoughts were on it.

Honestly I couldn't say.  The torsion bar is mainly there to keep the tires on the ground, so I don't see how steering dampners will help at all as they dampen the left-right shock on the system.

i kinda thought that, but wanted to ask anyway, just concerned that if i do raise it up a bit, i just don't wanna go to far and put too much stress on it. so would you say that going up to 1.5" on the front be w/in the parameters that wouldn't be detrimental to pieces of front? thanks

my 2001 frontier always has problems sinking down in the front... i dont know what it is but it does, so i crank up my torsion bars every so often to get my truck up to normal height, plus i try to take my truck off road almost every week ( and not pussy offroad) i take it a little too far sometimes and everythign is staying together fine

All a Steering stabilizer dose is reduce Bump steer when running larger tires. Its not going to prevent or eliminate wear on Steering componets when you a Tbar crank you are changing the angles of serveral componets thats what causes the wear.

Hello , Im new here. I just bought a 05 nismo king cab and I love it!  Anyway this message is for frontyfan. In the past Ive owned a few datsun & nissan trucks and all of them were modified for offroad. My first 620 had the torsion bars cranked and air shocks in the rear armstrong norsman 29" tall tires and a beer tap lever for a gear shifter handle and a 1 1/2" roll bar mounted in the bed. Hey I was 18 and it was set up like that on the used car lot only a year old, man I wanted it Bad! It was the 620 or a brand new subaru brat. Well I got the 620 and I drove the HELL out of that truck and nothing broke. I even rolled it. we just flipped it up right and a friend took me to get some oil to refill the crankcase and drove it home, but got a ticket for the broken windsheld. Well the point I would like to make is I was young the truck looked cool but the ride was harsh and yes Ive had add a leaf's aswell. All these things raise the truck and that looks cool and you can run bigger tires but the suspension needs to have smooth articulation and dampening. A preloaded torsion bar TOO STIFF ! no wheel travel. For looks and lite offroading good shocks and body lift to clear larger tires maybe fender trim, bigger budget and more serious offroading total chaos long travel kit. did I say larger tires, that affects the final drive ring and pinion rpms speedometer thats a whole subject of its own. Hope this helps        http://www.chaosfab.com/index.html
