i am looking at getting new tires for my truck. i have a 2002 frontier crew 4wd long bed. the stock size in the tire i want (265/70r16 BFG A/T) is difficult to find and significantly expensive. if i get one size bigger, (265/75r16) it is about 100$ cheaper, and they are readily available. however, the bigger tire will rub in front im almost certain. how big of a lift would i have to get (preferably suspension) to get enough clearance in the front, and what other modifications would i have to make to ensure there is no unecessary stress on my truck and to compensate for the bigger tire circumference? (odometer+spedometer) i have given alot of thought about changing the tire, or waiting to get the stock size in the BFG A/T, but i am set on getting this tire, its just a matter of how i get it. and i would wait, but im not sure how long the tires i am running right now will last. and money is a small issue, so i want to save as much as possible. i plan on lifting the truck eventually, and the sooner the better so spending the money to get the lift is ok if i can get the tires sooner for cheaper.

..

There is not much diameter gain in the cheaper tire. If there is a rub you can crank up the t-bars 5/8th inch and install 1 inch blocks in the rear. The rear will be slightly higher but you will need the extra clearance on the rear even for mild off roading!! I did this and got the blocks from Pep Boys.

Good luck.. Don S..
