I purchased a 1996 Tacoma new & am getting reimbursed by Toyota due to frame defect.  In 15 years, I drove the Tacoma 81K miles and, therefore, may be driving a new truck the same or more in miles.

I will not beat the truck.  I looked at a Tacoma & Frontier, pretty much identical in configuration.   As a note, the key difference with the Tacoma vs Frontier was the Tacoma had a backup camera (Frontier did not) and, for the life of me, Tacoma did not have delayed wipers  & Frontier came with delayed wipers (to me, these are a necessity).  Personally, I like the Frontier config over the Tacoma, especially due to delayed wipers.  My concern is reliability of the Frontier (4x4, V6).

Does anyone have any feedback on reliability of the 2911 Frontier or, even 2010?  Thanks

I had a '96 Tacoma, purchased in '01 w/ 48K miles, $10,000.
In '08 w/ 156K miles, I got $10,500 for it due to the frame
recall. Loved the truck, hated to part w/ it, got the
Frontier mainly because I work at a Nissan dealership and $
for $ and little things like intermittent wipers, king cab
etc., I choose the Nissan.

Appreciate your response!!  I paid about $12k in 1996 for a stripped Tacoma (manual trasmission, 4 cyl).  I had A/C installed at the dealer.  Totota is giving me about $5, 950 for it for the frame recall.  I really like the 2011 Tacoma.   Local repair shops are leaning toward the Tacoma.  Again, for the life of me, the Tacoma, at around $30k, does not have intermittent wipers. The wiper option comes with either the optional (non-functioning) hood scoop or a back seat boom box speaker.   I do not want either package in order to get intermittent wipers.  Therefore, I lean toward the Frontier.    My concern is the reliability track recond.   Even Frontiers from 2009-2011 are of interest re: reliability record.  Lack of reliability records is my hesitation with the Frontier as I do not want any major problems as time goes on.  I try my best to maintain my vehicles to avoid major problems.

Again, I appreciate your feedback!!

I'm hoping the rad concern has been rectified on the '11
Frontier along w/ the secondary timing chain tensioner shoe
problem. Those are the 2 concerns that I am most aware of.
