Ho all. CAn anyone tell me a good way to test for a constant electrical draw from my battery? It seems if I don't start up my truck for a week the battery goes dead. Then I recharge it and it starts up fine again. That seems too fast for the battery to lose power. This is also a new battery. Help.

Easiest way is to disconnect battery cable (negetive) and use a test light (or voltmeter on VDC setting), and touch the negetive post of the battery with one end, and then the other end to the battery cable.
Make sure doors are closed, key off. If it lights, then there is draw. If the light is on, pull out fuses one at at time and put them back in, and then the fuse that is pulled that makes the test light go out is the circuit that has a draw.
Any chance you have aftermarket alarm? Disable that prior to doing these steps.

Do you touch one end to the negative battery post and the other to the disconnected negative battery cable? If i use a voltmeter on dc setting what voltage reading if any would indicate I have a draw? Any amount?

Hi all so here's what I did to see if I have an electrical draw, I disconnected the negative post clamp and hooked up a test light to the clamp then I touched the other end of my test light to the negative battery post. My test light lit up so that indicated a draw. I pulled fuses one at a time until the test light shut off. The fuse panel in the cab did'nt affect the light so I went to the fuse box under the hood. I pulled the "Audio" fuse there and the light turned off. So I found the constant draw! I was wondering though can the stereo clock be drawing enough current to light up my light or is there actually a short circuit issue here?

The stereo clock is such a small draw, that a test light would be dim if on at all. Have you tried leaving this audio fuse out for a week, and see if truck starts?

No I have'nt. I'm gonna check my audio system for wiring issues the i'll probably pull the fuse if I don't notice any wiring problems

Howzit so I pulled the fuse and guess what? I have no problems at all with the battery now. So apparently it's something with that circuit that's drawing too much current all of a sudden. Could it be anything else besides my stereo system?
