ok just a quick question for those of you who have modded your V6 frontys, i'm just wondering in the end once you were done what kind of gains in numbers did you see or do you estimate if you didn't dyno your machine, granted that most of you i'm sure don't dyno your truck every time you have added something to it, but in your estimation what kind of success did you have with these mods and what are they.

thanks

appreciate it guys i'll take a look at it, one other question, i know that when doing an exhaust that if you go with pipes that are too big and allow too much flow that you can jack some of your low end grunt, so if you had a custom exhaust done with maybe just slightly bigger than stock and ran two mufflers and then out the OEM exit point, you coudl still see an increase w/o dicking too much with your low end grunt correct?

Actaully that could hurt your power.  Cause now  you're causing a restriction point in the exhaust, and at no less the very end of the line.  So this will cause a slgiht blockage for the WHOLE system.

Just run 2.5", 2.25" pipe, you'll be fine.  OEM size is very restrictive, and mainly done for emmision laws, and to save money.

You may want to check out this FAQ from the MagnaFlow website:

Why Bigger isn't always better...

They explain why bigger pipes don't always mean better results and have a chart that tells the optimum pipe size for an engine's displacement.  The also don't recommend going more than 1/2" larger than stock in pipe size!

I'm trying to organize a group buy for the JBA system, it looks very promising, and they have applied these basic principles to their design.  I don't know the Group Buy price yet, we're still working on that, but it may be worth considering, depending on what a custom system will cost you.  Here's the GB link!

sorry guys i think you misunderstood me, i in no way intended to suggest to run duals from the headers into one pipe at the OEM exit. what i meant was to run two dual pipes with 2 cats as it already has, 2 mufflers, but have them exit in the same location as it does stock..but with two pipes kinda like the custom tubes products exhaust exits, tho this would be a true dual rather than having the two pipes meet into one muffler, but keeping the tubes the same size as stock ones, would that increase power since you wouldn't have the restriction at the Y-pipe but avoid peeling away too much low end grunt by keeping pipes same size as stock, i am wondering because you would naturally increase flow because you have two free pipes even tho you are keeping same size, if not just slightly larger as you suggesed. thanks.

also my fronty is an 01 so would that group buy offer apply to me or is that for new frontys only?

speaking of exhaust, i was interested in reading a post from reverendbiker on another link where he was dyno'ing his mods and the one that caught me as interesting was his 05 fronty with the gibson exhaust and those results and then combined with the AFE CAI, was very impressive gains to say the least even with the % loss calculation at the rear wheels.

Frontyfan,

The group buy is for the 05/06 Frontier with the V6, I didn't remember the year of your truck.  OkieScot, a member of another forum has almost the exact system you describe except he's using a duel in duel out muffler and running both pipes through one free flowing muffler.  I don't think he's noticed any loss of low end.  He's on NissanForums.com and ClubFrontier.og if you searc for his screen name he has posted pictures in the past.
