just a quick update or maybe some FYI for those who didn't know, but i'm sure most of you did, when i read the towing specs for the 2001 SE CC V6 it indicated 3500 as the max towing capacity, however i have since discovered at www.nissanhelp.com that is for the manual transmission, and for the AT it is 5000 lbs of towing, granted i know there is more involved with this, but just a little information for those who were under the impression that their 01 fronty was only able to pull the 3500 lbs indicated on autotrader.com and probably on some other locations

LOL... my old Frontier was rated for 1000 lbs.  I remember pulling my friend's RX7 on a trailer.  Granted, the rear end sagged a lot, and we took it slow down the interstate, but it made it.

1000? really are you sure? that sounds super low lol, i was just surprised when i was looking it up on www.nissanhelp.com, cause i remember reading initially that it was 3500 lbs but then it showed that was for the MT on that site, i was lookin up the specs on my Dad's 02 KC fronty and it said up to 2,000 on the AT and 3500 on the MT for the 2.4 4banger, don't get that eitehr cause it's reversed on the V6's the MT not rated as high as the AT's any thoughts?

A lot of it has to do with more than just the tranny, the suspension, and gear range they use also effect how much it can tow.

And 1000 lbs was what BS U-Haul was trying to give me when we went to rent a tow dolly for my friend's RX-7.  And about 4 months earlier, I went down and rented a 6'x12' trailer, and they said "someone down here wasn't doing their job when they let you rent that"

My dad was a General Manager for 3 years for U-Haul.  I remember helping him install hitches, wire the vehicle, and help run the store.  Our 93 Dodge Grand Caravan could tow a car trailer no problem.

..

...  According to one of the RV magazines or ‘Trailer Life’ the rear axle bearings are what have been a major problem. It seems a few years back Ford and Chevy had over rated their towing specifications and had to de-rate the towing capacity. People had to sue to get warrantee service. One other thing to keep in mind is when the rear springs are compressed it changes the front end alignment.

Have a good one and ;) CUL.. Don S..
