I noticed that a good majority of the posts are from people in the Dallas/Ft Worth area and I'm living in Shreveport. I don't know where any good off-roading is around here and wanted to plan a trip. Any suggestions?

Yes, there is a run comeing up at Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer, TX http://www.texasmotorizedtrails.com/ohvareas/barnwell/index. html this April 15 thru the 17th (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). We will be having our semi-annual trail clean-up & maintenance that weekend. All members get in free for working Saturday morning untill noon on maintaining the trails, after that we can ride the rest of the weekend for free. Its really easy to get from the Shreveport area.
There will be quite a few of the Nissan TNT & SWXC members going for the whole weekend as well as many other 4x4 clubs who sponsor trails at Barnwell. The Park (Barnwell Mountain) has both primitive tent camping and seperate RV camping areas, including an on site air-compressor for airing up your tires afterwards. There is also on site gender rest rooms with showers and electricity as well. You can join BMRA & TMTC http://www.texasmotorizedtrails.com/ for about $35.00 a yaer per for a membership. This will get you in for only $15.00 or less per day.
Should you have any questions just visit the first link listed above for more information and driving maps on how to find/get to Barnwell Mountain. I will send you a private message with my cell phone number so you can call me regarding any other questions or concerns you may have.
Come and join us, you will have fun. There are pleanty of off-road trails for all levels of off-road vehicle driving and skills.

Thanks! I checked out the website and helping the property manager clean up for a free weekend of broading is definitely a deal. Unfortunately it would be easier if I just pay the full price as I'm moving to Colorado in July. I think I'm going to have to see what this new NISMO 4X4 can do though... hehe.

Yes sir in deed, bring that bad boy out for the day on Saturday (April 16th) and meet up with all of us (Nissan Group) for a great time. Plus, Barnwell Mountain is not too far from the Shreveport area either.

Yeah, I checked out the directions and it doesn't seem that far... it's right next to longview and I know people who commute from longview to shreveport so it can't be that bad.... on a side note, I just put a flowmaster on the truck with a dumped exhaust coming out the side prior to the rear wheel... sounds killer and improved the gas mileage a little bit.... but it's new so I have to show my friends and reving the engine takes that little bit of saved gas mileage away... ohh well.

Hey Joehova!
Are you still planing on coming out to Barnwell on (4/16/05) Saturday, if you are and don't want to do the trail maintenance work thingy you can still come at about noon time and just pay the regular entrance fee/rate. Keep in mine that they won't let anyone ride any of the trails untill after 12:00 thats when the trail maintenance work is to be over. There will be quite a few of us camping (tent) there over night on Saturday so we can hit more of the trails early and all day on Sunday too...(Note: Theres no trail maintenance work done on Sunday)
We use the CB radio and FRS radios for communication while we are out there and on the trails, use CB channel 5 to find/call us on the radio or if you have a cell phone you can call me direct @ 214-293-2619 and ask for Herk (thats me) and I'll come get you at the entrance office where you check in at. Although, cell phone service at Barnwell isn't alway very good, so if you have any trouble using the cell phone to contact me and you don't have a CB radio you can ask the office at Barnwell to call us on their base station CB radio, don't forget you will have to tell the office to use CB channel (5) five to call/find (TNT (Texas Nissan Trucks) us!
BTW: I will be there by 8:00am in the morning on Saturday, several others will be there today (Friday) as well. We will be at the SWXC (Southwestern Xterra Club) camp site so like I said, just call and I'll come up and meet you so you can follow me back to the camp ground. Yeah, Barnwell Mountain is that big of a place...
