Nissan does not specify a type or quantity of oil nor do they list any maintenance requirements for the super charger.

AGAIN, THERE IS NO MAINTENANCE REQUIRED FOR THE SUPERCHARGER. IF you have a noise, most likely you are not using hi-test fuel.

Hello "Frontierguy"
Glad to have your years of experience and am enjoying searching for S/C issues here at the forum! I have noise at the front of my Eaton M-62 though and have always run hi-octane fuel in this '03.  This is the coffee grinder, off-idle sound described elsewhere on the net in reference to supercharger oil, coupler, and even bearing replacement.
I'm surprised to see so little discussion of this noise and it's now common "remedies" mentioned here -other than to dismiss it.  Is it because members have simply moved on, driving and discussing newer trucks (or even later gen supercharger swap-outs), the issue's "coupler/oil replacement solution" is simply bunk, or is industry/marketplace just responding now to early gen M-62 related fatigue??

Working in a very small dealership, I see very few S/C Frontiers. The ones I've seen have not had any issues. The point I was trying to make is, that Nissan says that the S/C requires no maintenance. If it is bad replace it. I'm sure there are guys that have the time and resources to disassemble and rebuild one, so be it. A loose timing belt is a very possible source for a noise, if you listen to the base of the distributor, it will sound like it is coming apart due to the loose timing belt. The only TSB related to S/C is for the use of premium fuel to correct the noise complaint.

On another note, if the knock sensor itself is malfunctioning, that may result in the same noise.< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" ="">
