Hi. I will be towing my old truck from Arkansas to South Carolina (relatively flat) here in a couple weeks. I have a 06 Crew Cab Nismo. My old truck weighs about 3500 lbs. I am trying to decide whether to use a full Uhaul trailer or just a dolly. The trailer weighs about 2000 lbs it self, but has surge brakes. This would make the total about 5500 lbs. The dolly is relatively weightless, but has no brakes. I would rather tow on the full trailer because it allows me to get all 4 wheels off the ground so no pulling driveshafts and I think it would pull smoother and be able to maneuver.
So basically, is the 2000lb trailer with brakes better than the light dolly with no brakes? Also this is assuming that the uhaul brakes actually work. Thanks
