I have a 1999 Nissan Frontier 4X4 V-6 with an Automatic Transmisson.  It shifts from first to 2nd really hard and when it shifts into overdrive it shutters(Vibrates the whole truck).  Has anyone had any of these problems with theirs? Any information would be appreciated.  I also know there is a service bulletin for the Engine Valve Tap at start up.  Does anyone know how long they will take care of this problem?

If the vehicle has not received the service before, they will honor it. 

For the tranny problem, sounds like your clutch discs are having problems... possibly low on ATF.

I also have a 1999 Nissan Frontier 4X4 V-6 with an Automatic Transmisson. Have you tried changing the Tranny fluid yet? I don't have a lot of miles on mine yet but I drained and refilled mine at 30,000 miles. I also installed an aftermarket cooler... Here are a couple of tips I copied from the Internet:

Drain it then carefully measure how much came out and replace with the exact same amount.. its pretty easy.

You can also do several drain and fills of the pan to get mostly new ATF in there. 4 drain and fills will get you to about 90% new ATF since each drain is 4qts and the total capacity is 8.75-9qts. Then just drain the pan every other oil change to keep the fluid in good shape.

Watch out for the pan bolts, spec is only around 4ft/lbs and they are easy to snap and crossthread.

i got a 99 frontier AT, mines only a 2wd 2.4 but it also shifts hard into 2nd.  i looked into it i thought it was tranny problems also, but it's just the way the timing is set on the tranny to shift,  it's no big deal,  it's actually kinda cool, my truck can chirp 2nd with an automatic 4 banger!  :)

oh ya of course it would, and it's the only truck i have ever heard of that would chirp 2nd with an auto 4cyl.  its pretty sweet
