Hey guys, I'd appreciate any help you can give me. I got a 2000 CC SE 4x4 and 155k miles. Today out of the blue it wouldn't start. All I got was the rapid clicking of what I reckon is the starter. All instruments light up, headlights work, etc. so i don't suspect the battery BUT...when I tried to start it the freakin' windshield wipers comes on for one cycle. Confuses the bejezus out of me. Also, (after prolonged failed attempts at starting) when I turn the headlights on in 'pre-start mode' the electrics flash off for a second like there is too much of a load. Duh I know, but maybe a weak battery, not giving enough juice to a weak starter on its way out? I dunno guys, but the windsheild wiper thing wasn't mentioned on any other starter problem post that I could find. Its truly weird. After about 10mins of sitting I retried by just barely turning the key into start and only letting it stay for a split second and I was able to hear the starter just catch and turn a bit, click and click, then I repeated and it caught a little more, then clicks. Then finally, and weakly, turned the engine over. Any ideas?

dead battery.

The windsheild wipers coming on when you tried to start means that either they were left on when last turned off. Or someone has been in your truck.

You have any kids? That's my usual source of frustration as they'll get in and play with EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!! It's always an adventure getting in and starting up the car in the morning.
