The climate control fan doesn't work on settings 1-3.  Setting # 4 (which blasts the air) works for the heat but when I have the AC on and turn it to 4 it shuts off the AC and blows air that is neither cool nor hot.  I brought it to the dealer only to be told my warranty expired a few months ago.  The clerk mentioned it may be a sensor switch or something like that.  If anyone knows what the problem may be and if a layman (that would be me) can fix it, let me know.

Marcia;

Welcome to the group! I did a search ''blower fan switch'. Here's some help I hope. If not try other word combos... My dial up is a little slow tonight.

I used to be quite indecisive but maybe now days I’m not so sure!

I also was searching through the forum last night and ran across the same thing.  I also downloaded the FSM and started looking through it.  There's a step by step troubleshooting section that pretty much brought me to the same conclusion.  I couldn't read the whole section as it was getting late but today I'll finish reading and maybe venture outside and see if I can find the switch to do a visual check on it as recommended in the manual.

I need to know where to find the switch.  I looked under the glove box and everything is covered by black plastic.  I did notice there's a white connector consisting of 4 wires going into a small rectangular black slot attached by 2 screws.  The black piece with the slot is probably about 2 1/2 inches long.  Is that where the switch is or is it behind the instrument panel?

When only speed #4 works, you need to replace the blower resister, on the bottom of the blower housing(glove box side).
If the a/c is in-op, most likely you need to replace the control switch assy.
The "switch" you are referring to is the resister for the blower motor.

After more online research I came to the same conclusion that the blower resistor needs replacing.  Do I need to remove any part of the glove box to get to it or can I reach it from the floor?

 You are correct , only the resister needs to be replaced. Verified the same concern today in the shop, another technician ordered a switch for the same problem, turned out the resister corrected both concerns. Who would have thought???????????These new vehicles are not like the older ones to diagnose. Sorry to have miss lead you in my previous response. Yes, you can get it from underneath.

Thanks everyone...I got the part for $55 at the dealer (it wasn't available through the auto parts stores) and installed it today.  The problem is fixed!!!!  I can't believe the dealer wanted to charge be about $150 for something that took all of 5 minutes.

oh yeah, $100 of that is just labor for the guy, and they always charge atleast an hour, and it only took 5 minutes.

Flat Rate is so awesome... when you're the mechanic.  Sucks being on the forking out side of it though.

It's just about that way with anything.  They wanted $250 to replace my brake pads and rotors on my Maxima, just REPLACE, i already had the stuff.  Saying it would take 2 hours alone on the rear.  It took me an hour to do all 4.

And don't get me started about them bastards down at the chevy dealer and shocks for my Camaro.

I am having the same trouble with the blower only working on high, but my A/C does work.  I have looked behind and under the glove box and have not found the blower motor resister.

Can someone please tell me where the blower motor resister is located on a 2002 Nissan Frontier?

Thanks!!
