I have a 2004 Frontier, 2.4L 4cyl, 5spd. I cranked it up one night, and none of the instruments would work, lights came on just fine, as well as the radio, I notice this just after backing out of the driveway. I shut it off thinking that maybe somehow I had managed to pop the clutch to start it. Then it wouldn't start back up, all the lights (exterior) , the cabin light, and the radio all come on. But even when it's too accessory the idiot lights won't come on, it won't try to turn over, I can hear the starter clicking, battery is connected properly, I just don't know what to do. Please help me

Steve, you could have a bad ground connection from the battery to the vehicle frame.  Check your battery cables for coorosion and make sure that the ground connection is tight and corrosion free.  You could also have a battery that is failing to hold a charge.  If the ground doesn't get you anywhere , have the battery tested.

Thanks for the help, but the ground cable was secure, and the battery cables weren't corroded. I did find however that a 10amp fuse had blown, I replaced it and it started right up. With the AC running though it blew right back out, I replaced it once again and then turned the AC off before starting, and no problems whatsoever. With the exception of no AC in South Carolina

Steve, thanks for the update.  Now you need to find the short or determine why you have such a high amperage draw.  Did you recently have the AC serviced?  Was new Freon added (or whatever they call it these days)?  Check for a pinched wire that gives power to activate the AC clutch.

I haven't had it serviced recently, other than 4 weeks ago I added a new radio, then 2 weeks ago, I changed the oil and air filter. Other than that nothings been done to it. I just got back from AutoZone and had them do an engine diagnostic, it came up with a pending o2 sensor. The guy suggested that just to be on the safe side, to take it to the dealership and have them run one.

I certainly do appreciate your help with this

Changing the air filter?  Check all of the wiring connections around the air box.  Maybe you pulled a connector loose in that area.  Also, the radio installation may have done something.  Did you unhook any wires other than those directly going into the radio?  Battery cable, for example?

Ok Boomer, I couldn't find any wiring that that had come loose, I did however find a couple of wires that had some insulation worn off, and the actual wiring exposed on it, after wrapping the wires again, everything is back to normal. I do appreciate your help

Steve, that is good news.  Hopefully the problem is fixed.  Now think about why the insulation wore off in the first place and fix that so it doesn't reoccur and you'll be in fine shape!!
